Tim & Renate McWright, tribe leaders

Tim, a native of Houston, TX and Renate of Innsbruck, Austria, met in Europe while Tim was on a military tour of duty with the US Army.
“We were married in 1967 and in 1969 our first child was born. After a series of tragic events such as the loss of our first-born child at age 3, and the simultaneous deaths of Tim’s parents all in the same year of 1972, we realized that there was more to life than parties and living on the edge. We realized we needed help big-time and began attending a small Army chapel in Ft. Meade, MD. After a few weeks of hearing the Word of God preached, we surrendered our lives to Christ within 3 weeks of each other. God truly brought us out with signs and wonders and we witnessed the miraculous power of God that would fill a whole book to tell all. After a short while we were sent to Japan on military assignment and we know it was more than just that. We clearly heard God’s call for Evangelism and began to open our home to the Japanese nationals for weekly Bible Study. Over the course of 4 years of that assignment, we saw many souls come to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. We still hear of conversions that followed our seed planting, long after our departure. While in Japan, we graduated from the International Bible Seminary, Plymouth, FL, Okinawa Campus, and received credentials for Tim as a Minister of the Gospel, and Renate as a Bible Teacher. From Japan we were sent to Ft. Sam Houston, TX where we remained until Tim’s retirement in 1993 after 30 years of military service. In search of a church where the unadulterated Word of God was preached, we were led to Cornerstone Church where we have remained since 1990. We have four children and five beautiful grandchildren.

When the Government of Twelve was established at Cornerstone we got very excited! We had been privileged, while in the Far East, to visit Dr. Yonghi Cho in Seoul, Korea, who probably has one of the largest congregations in the world. We were introduced to the cell concept and knew that it worked! How exciting to see this concept come to our very own church! We were part of the first graduating class and rolled up our sleeves to go to work. Miracles began to happen as the Lord sent people to join our cell. Marriages were restored, impossible situations rectified, the sick were healed, cancers reversed, children were reconciled to their parents……and the list goes on as God continues to do the impossible! The large church can be intimidating to some who come from small fellowships but the Government of Twelve concept creates the small church feeling within the cell group. We see every person that walks through our door as a potential future leader and we let them know this from the start. They know we expect them to eventually go through the School of Leaders to become cell leaders in their own neighborhood. To date we have sent more than 16 through the School of Leaders and have presently 9 serving as active cell leaders. This is how the Word of God multiplies and we’re excited to see God’s hand in this concept. One plants, another waters, but it is God who gives the increase!
We see the community around us affected by the G-12 as we conduct outreaches where We minister in places such the Ronald McDonald House, Elder Care facilities, SAMM shelter and other like places. We have offered Jesus to people in the malls and often we are able to say the “Sinner’s Prayer” with those who never have. What a reward!

We have received an incredible honor to be the new tribe leaders of the Tribe of Judah and realize that it is no small task to lead God’s children in any capacity. They belong to Him and we ask you to join us in prayer so that we may see God’s people with His eyes and love them with His unconditional love. Our examples have been Pastor John and Lestra Gross and we pray that we’ll be able to motivate and encourage the tribe as they have through their steadfast and unwavering testimony.
We believe it is no accident that we were placed into the Tribe of Judah. Judah, went first before the Ark with singing and praising – we are both in the Praise Ministry. Tim in the Orchestra and Renate in the Rejoice Dance Team. Let our Praise exalt the Mighty One of Israel!
