The Simple Life

“The simple life” is about getting back to the basics of our faith and exploring the concept that when Christians exercise their faith, and do what God has asked them, life for the Believer becomes “simple” once again. Do you have what it takes?

As Christians, we like to believe we are made of the right stuff. So often it is easy to counsel and encourage others as they face a time of trial, but when you are caught in the refiner’s fire, are you comforted by the words you have given to others? Or, do you feel like you do not have what it takes to weather the storm?

Fact: The Bible is a Book of Truth. It is alive. This means that while the words may have been written and spoken thousands of years ago, every line is as relevant to you today as it was the morning it fell from the prophets’ lips.

The power of God is locked in the pages of the Word. It transcends every generation, regardless of what you face, the mountain that stands in your way or the giant before you. This living Word is your Holy Spirit anointed weapon that has been ordained by God for your victory.

The Word is a weapon against sickness, for it says, “He sent His Word and He healed them.” It is a weapon against fear, because “the Lord is my light and salvation of whom shall I fear… the Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid.” The Bible is a weapon against poverty for “my God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory.” Although the Word is a weapon against any and all harm that could come against you, albeit spiritually, physically, mentally or emotionally, in this teaching we will focus on the Word of God as a weapon against doubt and discouragement.

The Bible tells us that Satan is like a roaring lion, he wants to intimidate you and he wants the circumstances of life to so overwhelm you that you refuse to even try to overcome the challenges that you face.

Satan aims to convince you that it is impossible to conquer the trial in front of you. He wants you to believe that “you don’t have what it takes” and he will use every page of your past, every unknown in your future, and every opportunity today to get you to doubt what God’s Word has promised you.

Have you ever looked at a situation and thought to yourself, “there is no way I can do this, why try, this is impossible?”

It is in these moments, that you must listen to the words of encouragement that God spoke to the children of Israel through the prophet Haggai and take them to heart. In Haggai 2:4, the Lord commands, “be strong and work… for I am with you says the Lord of hosts.” How simple is that? If you want to achieve the goals that God has placed in your heart, you must be strong and you must work.

The Word does not say, “be strong and work, it will be so easy!” Nobody promised you effortless success. But, if you will be strong and work, you do have His promise that He will be with you.

Be strong and work and the mountains of impossibility will move! Be strong and work and your dream will eventually become a reality. Because if God is for you, who can be against you?

Many Christians believe these words within the four walls of their church or the pages of their Bible. How many times have you thought, “well all that sounds good on Sunday, but you don’t know what I face on Monday!”

Well, that is the point exactly! Monday morning is when the work begins! On those “Monday mornings” of your life, when you think that you are facing an unbeatable foe, instead of being doubtful and discouraged, you should wake up and show the world the flesh and the devil that what you heard in the house of God is more powerful than the lie they are selling.

Instead of crumbling under the pressure, you are to “be strong and work.”

No matter what it is that you have set in your heart to do, if you are willing to be strong and work, then with God’s help you will always have what it takes to get the job done!

You have to take charge of your thoughts and your circumstances and not become discouraged. Do you realize why it is so important not to become discouraged? Because discouragement is nothing more than a distraction from your progress! If you are distracted, you are not making progress.

There are a number of reasons why people get discouraged. Perhaps it is the guilt of the past? But, we are free from the guilt of the past because the Word of God says, “behold the former things have passed away… and I make all things new again.”

Do not let the past define you! Do not allow your yesterday turn into your tomorrow or into a day of discouragement. You must bebold and be strong for the Lord thy God is with you, so press on!

Sometimes it is the past that discourages you and at other times you’re discouraged because of other people and what they maybe saying about you. Perhaps it is the lies they spread or the slander they revel in instead of the truth.

Too often we allow other’s discouraging behavior to redefine our character and dictate how we act and who we should be. Ultimately, we let what other people say about us impact us more than what God has to say about us.

So what do we do? Here’s what the Word of God says we should do, we should “be strong and work.” You must refuse to let this world discourage you and instead you must transform the world.

We must get back to the basics of our faith and realize that due to God’s two simple steps — to be strong and work — we have what it takes to achieve awesome results in our lives! Because when you add strength and work together and you are a child of God, you will receive God’s promises that He will be with you!

Do you want to change this world with power of Christ? Then be strong and work! Don’t you dare get discouraged at the challenges that are in your way and don’t you dare be intimidated by what other people have to say. Square your shoulders, lift your head and shout for joy, because if God be for you then who can be against you!

I encourage you to get this message and get back to the basics of your faith so you can be sure that no matter what you’re going through, you have what it takes to be victorious.
