Special Needs Ministry

Sundays 8:30am, 11:00am, & 6:30pm

Our special needs ministry serves children and adults with learning and/or physical differences. Participants are able to enjoy services with a dedicated volunteer or participate in our Special Needs Classroom where they will experience the love of Christ.

Our program is for individuals 5 years of age and older. The needs of each student are assessed on a case-by-case basis, and we work with parents and guardians to develop a plan that best suits their special needs child. With our goal being to celebrate abilities, unlock potentials, and create disciples of Christ, we provide an opportunity for students to learn and grow amongst their peers in a safe and welcoming environment. Locate us in A Building rooms A110, A111, & A112 each Sunday.

Cornerstone Main - Special Needs
Sunday Services

A typical Sunday for a student consists of 3 activity rotations; arts & crafts in our Artisans Room, worship & lesson in our Shekinah Room, and free time in our Sensory Room. Each activity is a duration of 25 minutes. Visual schedules are available for each age group and transitional prompts are given by lead teachers to ensure smooth rotations. Our Bible lessons are engaging and visual and our volunteers that work with students are loving and intentional.

Home Groups

Home Group meetings are bi-monthly on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month at 7pm. Special needs families gather for a time of fellowship over dinner, worship, and a variety of lessons & discussion topics. Topics are intended to encourage and edify each other as believers in Christ and support one another as part of the disability community. The setting allows parents to be real and share struggles, laughter, and prayer. Children are welcome.

Events

Outings, Respites, and Day Camps are a few of the Special Needs events we are holding.

Volunteer Opportunities

We love growing our family! We have many unique roles tied to the purpose of imparting the love and word of God in the hearts of our friends & co-laborers with different abilities. In an engaging, understandable, and intentional manner our team teaches how to love, know, and honor God. Volunteers are always needed for Lead Teachers & Assistants, Greeters & Check-in, Worship Team, Creatives Team, Bridging Buddies, and Home Group Leaders.

All volunteer positions require a current background check and meeting with the Special Needs Coordinator.

Visiting for the first time?

If you’re planning on visiting us this weekend, we look forward to meeting you and having your kids attend our children’s service!

Here's What You Need To Know:

Before your children attend their first service with us we will need to get some basic family information.

Fill out the registration form and complete it before your first visit.

REGISTRATION FORM

Or you can fill one out at check-in once you arrive.

We have a visitor check-in location located in the Bythel Hagee Life Center. Simply ask the greeters at the door for directions. At check-in, you’ll receive a name tag for each attendee as well as a security tag that will match up to the attendee's name tag for pick-up at the end of the service.

A volunteer will be available to answer any questions and will direct or escort you to the Special Needs Service.

Your child is our priority. The security tag is used by our staff to ensure your child’s well-being. If the tag is lost, a staff member will ask for a valid ID before you can pick-up. Your patience is appreciated as this extra step secures the safety of your child.
